Contact is one of the best films of all time. It explored themes of hope vs. fear, science vs. religion, curiosity vs. ignorance, and oh yeah, contact with an extraterrestrial civilization. It also introduced the public to the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope, the most powerful radio telescope array ever constructed.
Jodie Foster has lent her talent once again to the VLA by narrating Beyond The Visible: The Story of the Very Large Array. If you have 25 minutes, it’s well worth your time to watch. Behold:

Have a fantastic time and if you get down to the Sloan scope near Cloudcroft there is quite a view of the Tularosa Valley. I was once in the valley at 3 rivers petroglyphs, all alone with the rattlers, when a formation of F-117s flew over at 1,000ft. Wow.
